Through cooperation between CIVTE and SenoCur (Breast disease Institute) a new phase starts, in which patients are offered, thanks to the benefits of vitrification of oocytes and ovarian tissue cryopreservation, the preservation of ovarian function and fertility. Today cure and survival rates of cancer patients have increased, mainly due to improvements in cancer treatments. Thus, the importance of anticipating the possible consequences of these treatments. Young women diagnosed with cancer who are to undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy, may therefore preserve ovarian function and fertility, two of the key issues of concern for patients who have overcome the disease, which may affect their quality of life and self esteem. |
